YCA was conceived by two artists and curators, Rodney Artiles and Ben Young as an alternative to the established gallery system. They wanted the freedom to put on the best possible shows without having to go through the commercial galleries whose often narrow commercial interest in art would hamper the scope and ambition of their proposed exhibitions. YCA is into showing the best young contemporary artists at "pop-up" galleries in the US and overseas.
YCA has adapted the common model of the pay-to-submit art exhibition to utilize Kickstarter.com instead so that not only artists submitting work for consideration but anyone with an interest in the arts can help us fulfill our goal of putting on the most cutting-edge art exhibitions.
